Derrick Williams

Rovers bolstered their defensive options with the permanent signing of Derrick Williams from Bristol City on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

German-born, Williams came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa, making his Premier League debut at QPR in December 2012.

The versatile defender, who has represented the Republic of Ireland up to Under-21 level, joined Bristol City in June 2013 and helped the Robins to promotion the following season, as well as lifting the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley in March 2015.

August 2016 saw him make the move to Ewood Park and he went on to have an impressive first campaign in blue-and-white halves, which didn't go unnoticed by the supporters, who voted him their Player of the Year.
